Mark Kaczmarczyk, Founder/Artistic Director
Called “a polished and telling performer” by British Opera Magazine, Mark Kaczmarczyk combines a career steeped in voice and conducting. Conducting highlights include Handel’s oratorio Semele with internationally acclaimed counter tenor David Daniels (called “excellent” by Chamber Music America Magazine, and “dramatic, charming and moving” by the Detroit Free Press) and Brahm’s Liebeslieder Waltzes with pianists James Tocco and the late Ruth Laredo for the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. His recent conducting repertoire spans baroque opera (Handel’s Semele, Acis and Galatea at the Detroit Institute of the Arts), Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera for Ithaca College, much of the oratorio repertoire, including Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, the Requiem, to Arvo Part’s Stabat Mater and Te Deum. Recent solo vocal appearances include his debut with the American Symphony at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, the Aspen Music Festival, his west coast debut in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Giancarlo Guerrero and Bach’s Cantata No. 211 with Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival.
Many of Mark Kaczmarczyk’s successes have been exploring the baroque repertoire. He has essayed Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, by invitation for the American Choral Director’s Association Convention. He has sung Christus in the St. John Passion and bass arias from the St. Matthew Passion throughout the United States and Canada and Messiah on tour with Apollo’s Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra.
Mark Kaczmarczyk holds a Master’s Degree in conducting from the Eastman School of Music, a post graduate fellowship in voice from the University of Michigan, and doctoral studies at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM). A past Metropolitan Opera Regional finalist, he has served on the voice and conducting faculties at the University of Oregon and Ithaca College.
